Seplat Energy Plc has marked a significant milestone with the
mechanical completion of its ANOH gas plant project on December 29, 2023,
aligning with the revised schedule and demonstrating a remarkable achievement
in the energy sector.
Notably, the completion of this project stands out as an
outstanding accomplishment, achieved across 11 million worker hours without a
single recordable Lost Time Occurrence (LTI), highlighting the unwavering
commitment of the entire team to ensure seamless operations.
The ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), a collaborative venture
between Seplat Energy and NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) Ltd, leads the
delivery of the ANOH gas plant's Phase One processing capacity, set at 300
million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd).
Upon completion, the plant is poised to supply dry gas,
condensate, and LPG to its customers. AGPC envisions the sale of gas and LPG in
the domestic market while directing the condensates towards international
markets.
Seplat Energy's journey towards achieving this significant
milestone involved strategic phases, including the drilling and tie-in of
Upstream wells and the completion of major third-party infrastructure, such as
the OB3 pipeline waterway crossing and the Spike Line connecting OB3 to the gas
plant.
Recent updates include the completion of the fourth and final well
(ASSN-06) by the upstream unit operator, SPDC, following the earlier
announcement of the third well (ASSN-05).
The focus now shifts to completing plant pre-commissioning
activities and finalizing essential third-party infrastructure, crucial for
facilitating the commissioning of the gas plant and its subsequent operations.
The company reaffirms its previously communicated guidance for the timeline of
the first gas, indicating no changes.
Roger Brown, CEO of Seplat Energy, emphasized the pivotal
significance of ANOH, highlighting its potential to nearly double gas
production and generate dual revenue streams. This includes revenue from wet
gas sales from OML 53 to the gas plant and earnings from the ANOH Gas
Processing Company, responsible for plant operations.
Brown also underscored ANOH's critical role in reducing Seplat's
and Nigeria's carbon footprint while enhancing energy supply within the
Nigerian domestic market. The completion of the ANOH gas plant not only
signifies a major achievement for Seplat Energy but also represents a
transformative development in Nigeria's energy landscape, contributing to
sustainable growth and energy security.
